Since the 2026 season, Audi has been competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
 
The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Formula 1 factory of Audi Motorsport AG in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Audi Motorsport Technology Center in UK is in its launch phase and growing continuously. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

This position is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

As a Power Unit Performance Engineer, through your work on highly complex test benches, state-of-the-art HiL systems, a dynamic driving simulator (DiL), and race support from Mission Control, you make a significant contribution to the success of the project. You are involved in the development of a high-performance and highly efficient hybrid powertrain in the highly competitive motorsport environment of Formula 1 and can, with your ideas, take the decisive tenths off the clock in qualifying!

Your Mission

  • Interface between the areas of internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid system (ERS), Standard ECU (SECU), transmission, and hydraulics, with a focus on performance, testing, and development.
  • Definition, development, and support of strategies for energy management and fuel saving together with colleagues from operations strategy simulation and software development, taking into account and fully exploiting the regulations
  • Alignment of theoretical requirements with the practical needs of drivers together with race and performance engineers at the track
  • Monitoring and analysis of powertrain performance during testing on test benches, on HiL/DiL, and during tests and races (Mission Control Room)
  • Execution of tests and simulations to improve the efficiency and reliability of the powertrain (powertrain test bench)
  • Tracking performance development over the course of the season
  • Documentation and analysis of faults and their resolution

Your Profile

  • You have successfully completed a technical or scientific degree or hold a PhD, e.g. in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or aerospace engineering
  • You possess solid knowledge of data analysis and evaluation
  • You have extensive experience in the application of ECU software
  • You have experience with combustion engine software and a good understanding of high-performance engines
  • You have a good understanding of torque distribution in hybrid systems
  • You have in-depth knowledge of race car vehicle dynamics as well as the key influencing parameters of the powertrain
  • You have gained experience working with McLaren/Motion Applied ATLAS, System Monitor, and vTAG
  • You have knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, ideally in connection with McLaren/Motion Applied TAG ECUs
  • You are familiar with the technical and sporting Formula 1 regulations
  • An analytical, structured, and independent way of working comes naturally to you, complemented by strong teamwork and coordination skills
  • You remain resilient and capable of making decisions, even in time-critical situations
  • Excellent technical English skills complete your profile, and you are willing to learn German
